counseling for adults across texas
About Camille Rex, LPC
Hi, I’m Camille Rex. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with individuals who have been so consumed by other people’s expectations that, somewhere along the way, they lost themselves. My goal is to help you stop dwelling on negative thoughts and start helping you get back to living life.
My Journey To Becoming A Counselor
I’m no different from the clients I see. Like everyone else, I’m human. I’ve been through both wonderful and difficult experiences that have shaped who I am and how I help.
I grew up believing that hard work can solve any problem, which meant that having any lingering issues must mean I wasn’t working hard enough. As I got older, I realized that I can’t always “work” my way through my problems, that nothing is perfect, and that continued striving toward perfection only leads to more negative feelings. Learning to accept myself as the person I am, right in this moment, has helped me increase the enjoyment I get out of life.
Helping People Is A Gift To Others, But Also Myself
Being a counselor is fulfilling. I love helping people become healthier and more empowered and witnessing them achieve more fulfilling lives. The most rewarding thing about being a counselor is seeing a person walk away lighter, more accepting of themselves, and excited about their life.
I am committed to helping you get back to your authentic self.
I Have Empathy For Others And Bring Supportive And Encouraging Energy To Sessions
I have a natural ability to:
- Sense what other people may be thinking and feeling
- Inspire hope for getting better
- Accept people for who they are and in their current life circumstances
People who know me often say that I am genuine, approachable, and a good listener, which helps people feel seen and start to heal.
Our Sessions Are Focused On You
Sessions will provide you with the space to be understood and heard. In feeling safe and comfortable, you’ll be able to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals, and focus on yourself without feeling selfish.
It’s important to me to provide a non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and stay open to any feedback and questions you may have. There isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to counseling. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.
As A Counselor, I Embrace The Following Philosophies:
- I believe that you are worthy of love and care
- I believe that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated
- I believe that taking care of yourself is the most generous thing you can do for the world
- I believe that people underestimate their ability to change. It’s possible to change. It’s possible to enjoy life again.
- I believe that loving and accepting ourselves for who we are, scars and all, is one of the most courageous things we can do
My Professional Background
I earned a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in both Psychology and Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina. Afterwards, I earned a Masters in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Penn State University, then a PhD in Sport Studies with an emphasis in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of Tennessee. Later, I returned to school and earned a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University – Central Texas. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas.
